There was an article in the New York Times on July 19, http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/20/nyregion/regulars-at-a-manhattan-mcdonalds-arent-there-for-the-fries.html?_r=0. The place, McDonald’s on 8th Avenue seemed so familiar. I realized that I walk by this particular McDonald’s twice a day commuting and sometimes photograph outside around the neighborhood on my lunch break. Two neighborhoods of old Manhattan overlap here, Hell’s Kitchen and the Garment District. I always thought things seemed a bit off around this area. Tourist buses let their riders off just out front. Judging by the locals, I figured that there must be a drug rehab center close by or …. whatever. It certainly is a strange mix of people.
