Do I long to travel?? You betcha. Before getting married and having a family, I did as much traveling as I could. The only times I travel now, is for a family vacation at summer’s end, before the beginning of a new school year, or to visit extended family. What interest, what differences I can find in these small travels, and how it relates to my state of mind, is what I photograph. I don’t do a Kickstarter to finance a trip to an exotic place. Exotic places sometimes lead to exotic images. Hard to do? I’ll let you all answer that. They are off the norm from what we know. Sometimes. Especially if that exotic place is your home.
Yup, my place is where I live, where I work. It is exotic as any place can be. It is culturally diverse. Especially when one travels to a borough that one might not be familiar with. There is a lot to be said, a lot to find inspiration from, in just being…. just being where you are.
