Seven years ago this was pretty much my lunch every other day. $2 for a cup of coffee and a bun down in Chinatown. Getting laid off a few weeks after Ethan was born was tough. Getting back into the photography work world, considering all my experience, wasn’t easy. I worked helping my old friend and roommate Randy as a handyman. Occaisionally shooting a freelance photo assignment. One day I received an email from a long ago coworker if I would interested in freelance work at a photo agency. Of course I said yes. Two days there and three days or so working with my friend. Things were interesting. I eventually tore my right rotor cuff. That put an end to being a handyman. Luckily I was offered full time freelance by the agency just after my injury. Three years later I was offered full time employment and am still there.
It’s been a long 8 year struggle in the work world. I still haven’t returned to the income level I was at before getting laid off. I doubt I ever will reach it again before retirement. Whenever that will be. I am very lucky to have Nicole by my side. It hasn’t been easy. Watching our son grow has been our greatest joy
