Thirteen years ago I met her at a party I didn’t want to go to. A mutual friend convinced me with at the last moment, much cajoling, to go. At the end of the evening, I began speaking with a woman who I thought was nice. I got her number, and a couple of weeks later we went out for a movie and to dinner at a Cuban restaurant. We’ve been together ever since.
We went to Block Island sometime later in the summer for a weekend getaway. No cars are allowed on the island so we had rented a motor scooter to get around. Late one afternoon, we stopped in an old cemetery to explore. The sun was setting. Nicole turned around, the light, the look in her face…and I took this picture of her. I knew right there and then, that very instant, that we would be together.
We’ve been married for twelve years now…..and so it goes….
Congratulations to you and Nicole, Keith. This is ironic about you taking a picture of your future wife…when I met then man I would marry, I took a (very close-up) photo of him lighting a cigarette. He has since quit, but that photo won me an award at our state fair. The bigger prize, though, was him. Happy 12th. Many more.
Ha! Good story Lois! Thanks!
