Ave Maria

Circa 1980. There was a shop on Avenue A, around 9th Street. As far I can recall, whatever services they sold, was obscure. I love religious icons. Especially Christian ones and those that are found in a botanica. I always liked this Ave Maria statuette they had in the window though, along with bowling and baseball trophies.

The graininess is due that I photographed this with Kodak high speed recording film. I remember developing the heck out of it. The image was taken on an extremely overcast day, and the high speed, ISO/ASA, 2500, allowed me to photograph comfortably on days like those.

I miss the challenges, the hit and miss, of film shooting. I don’t miss the chemistry though…..

Happy holiday everyone!
