My Italian grandparents lived in Newark NJ and I can remember walking in the park by their home and watching the old men play checkers out on the street like this. Fond memories, Keith.
I can as boy the men playing chess, checkers, and bocce ball in the parks around our neighborhood. My wife is Italian!
Good woman! Yes, bocce ball, too! I had forgotten about that.
