Dark

Today, the light in my country, my heart, my soul, has gone dark. When you grow up, you feel that your friends are all aligned and carry most of the same values. Today, you find out that is not so. You find out that they voted for hate, fear, divisiveness, the loss of protections for women, LGBTQ, immigrants. They voted for the belief that a convicted felon, a godless conman, a sexual predator, a man who aligns himself with despotic leaders, can save our economy, can save America, and make it great. I lost my belief in America and those friends.

I now wonder when I speak to someone, a fear will envelope me, did this person vote for darkness?

A dark cloak is descending.

  1. Alas, well said. I hesitate to ‘like” this post. We just returned to the US last week after 2 years abroad studying. Now I fear we will need to leave again before the camps open…

  2. Oh, Keith, I feel the same. How could this happen, this darkness of this man blanketing this country with his hatred? How could people be manipulated by him? How? Can’t they see the obvious? Why is he not held accountable for anything?

We need to be the bright stars in the dark sky (referencing Kamala’s speech here). Onward, even if onward seems really difficult right now.
