From here where do I go? I made the change from analogue to digital some 25 years ago. I received training on the first version of Photoshop back around 1992/1993, and saw the long, somewhat painful understanding by many where the industry was going. I was hoping to continue my journey by navigating the changes within the industry as I have done for the last 40 years, by remaining with Shutterstock. Management saw otherwise, as I became possibly redundant, training my replacements over the past year. Who knows.
My journey is far from over. I have my own work and projects to keep me going. I feel a new path is just around the corner. Of course there will be many changes coming on the horizon and I want to remain vital. This industry is not about photography anymore. Anyone with a phone can produce content. But what I can see missing is the knowledge, the history, the understanding of what true image making is about. I know there are still many out there that understand this. Those things that I love about photography are not dead. Like vinyl records, they are very much alive.

You are so right, Keith. Anyone can snap a photo. But not everyone can compose a photo, tell a story, convey a message, touch emotions, show us something we might not otherwise see. You’ve shown me your world through the years and I am more informed because of that. You are incredibly gifted, Keith, and you have so much to offer from your perspective. You have a great attitude as you face the uncertainties of tomorrow. Be strong, my friend. And thank you for updating us.
Thank you Audrey!
