To disregard the work of African American photographers is to ignore a vital, important part of American history and the American experience.
I highly recommend the work of Roy Decarava, the Kamoinge Collective – https://www.kamoinge.com/ , Ming Smith – https://mingsmithstudio.com/work, The Driskell Center – https://driskellcenter.umd.edu/archive, others below….

I can’t say enough about the depth and range of the imagery presented in these links. There are so many more. It is a great way to educate oneself on a neglected aspect in the history of photography and of America.
Thanks for celebrating the work of African American photographers and for the links.
