I am not a big fan of Instagram. I am there, as here, for dialogue, to share my work, to see and discover work I might not get to see otherwise. In this, it gives me great pleasure. I have made new acquaintances, new friendships. Images by people I can’t wait to see. On the other hand, IG disappoints me greatly. I see the work of people who in another time would only get a glance if that much. It’s depth so shallow, the followers so great in numbers, it completely baffles and mystifies.
i have found it is used more as a business tool. i tried the Instagram poetry thing, bad idea that was: i got a handful of people ask me to read their poems, to make corrections, to sort of guide them. As encouraging as i’d like to have been, there was no salvation for poetry that awful. It was a short lived experiment. i don’t do it anymore. i hardly have much use for it.
To date I have avoided Instagram for the exact reasons you listed.
It is very frustrating.
WP is all I do. How do people have the time to IG, FB, WP and who knows what in the heck else? Sounds like too much work to me. And then if it is frustrating to boot…….
You have one posting do others. You can set it up in WP.
The fact that it frustrates you tells me I probably don’t need it….
Pardon me Lois, but Instagram can be a real shit show. Lots of egos.
