Photography is not a medium known to expose the invisible. I hate statements that say, “My photographs are about making the invisible visible.” Hogwash. All photographs are judgements. All photographs depict the prejudices of the photographer. Photographers make choices – camera, lens, film, composition, color, B&W,, etc..
One does not breathe in a vacuum.
Can’t wait to see where this is going…. 😀.
Ha!
How about this? All art is autobiographical, but the viewer brings about 75% of the meaning to the art.
Sure, but I am speaking of the creator of the work.
For the creator it’s autobiographical. For the life of me I can’t figures out why I am so drawn to NOLA culture, which is Second Line, Mardi Gras Indian and Baby Dolls.
Don’t figure it out!
We all bring our backgrounds, our experiences, our interpretations to our art. We can both look at something and see it in totally different ways. Or we may not notice what someone else sees. You are right, Keith. We very much bring ourselves into our photography.
